Energy Storage

Climate Change Technologies Pty Ltd. [website], based in Adelaide, Australia, has developed an innovative Thermal Energy Storage Device (TED) - a heat battery with unique capabilities, which will disrupt the current energy market.

This heat can be readily turned back into electrical energy on demand via a thermal heat exchanger and various generation devices. TED's ability to manage input variations, produce Base Load output, take shallow cycle input and charge and discharge simultaneously mean the applications are extensive.

Current applications are in telecommunications (including cell towers), rail signaling, mining, industrial manufacturing, wind/solar/waste farms, gov't power networks and large buildings, remote communities and more.

Solar, wind, waste, fossil and grid energy is channeled through TED which generates hot water and AC power.

One competitive aspect is the contrast with lithium: USD~$600 / kwh and TED USD~$280 / kwh.

Advantages

• low cost, high availability materials

• simultaneous charge/discharge capability and shallow cycle tolerance

• environmentally friendly

• non-perishable product with the capacity for 100% re-cycling.

• energy density of TED = 500Wh/kg

• ~4x energy density of lithium ion

• ~12x energy density of lead acid

• Unexplored domain of thermal energy storage

• global patents approved in 18 countries to manufacture / distribute TED

• exclusivity reciprocal with Swedish partners into EU base of Sweden, Denmark & Netherlands

The thermal energy market is relatively new and embryonic internationally. A local competitor has progressed to IPO to raise development funds. Strategy focused on heat storage not electrical energy generation. And the technology works in MW not kW and not scalable down.

The company's competitors are lithium ion, lead acid and diesel generators suppliers.
